About the JDPC

Brief History of JDPC

The Justice, Development and Peace Centre, JDPC, of the Catholic Diocese of Ondo was established on 13th April, 1978. It is the social arm of the Church through which the Church continues her course for Social Justice both within the Church and the larger society. By its functioning, it is a Faith-Based NGO which aims at effective enlightenment and efficient empowerment of all people (irrespective of their creed, colour or race) so that they can see the need for and be committed to promoting authentic development, justice and peace in the world.  The centre does this prophetic ministry of the Church by identifying the social evils of our time and concretely addressing them in accordance with the gospel of Christ and the social teachings of the Catholic Church. It is committed to building people’s capacity and advocating on issues bordering on Holistic Human Development, Justice and Peace, Democracy and Governance, Human Rights, Preventive Health Care, Agricultural and Rural Development, Women and Youth Empowerment as well as other issues of common concern.
